Practices will be determined by the coaches for the team. We always attempt to have 3 coaches per team, one will act as the Head Coach and will have playing/coaching experience in the sport.
Players of the Select Team, must participate within the Town Team in order to be eligible to particpate within the Select Program. The Select Team will meet once a week for practice, in addition to the Town Team practices, starting in late August or early September based on availability, and going through the end of the season (November). Please note that FH is a Fall sport and as we get closer to Winter, our days are shorter and thus our practice times may shift to allow for as much time in safe environment as possible.
BYFH is committed to providing quality instruction to grow the game of FH, whilst not over committing our players to the extent that they experience any “burn out”. For players that are participating in the Select teams, will have the opportunity to have ’breaks’ through the season from a 3 day practice week. More information will come regarding this.
The Select Team will use the same reversible simulated Beverly Panthers jersey for the Select Program; however, there will be a slight difference, which will be built into the registration fee. In addition to the uniform.
All players will need to supply their own equipment. We will have a few extras for when a child may forget theirs. Equipment includes Field Hockey Stick, mouth guard, shin guards and regulation approved Field Hockey Goggles (not Lacrosse Goggles they are different).
Games will be held each week through the months of September and October. Home games will be played in Beverly based on availability between the Middle and High School. At least half of the games will be away against other teams in the North Shore/Greater Boston area. Additionally there could be a tournament (or two) at the end of the year.
The cost of the 2024 Select Program is still being determined. This fee will cover any and all costs of the additional program and BYFH is committed to keeping it as low as possible for all of our participants.
Feel free to reach out if you still have questions about the program by emailing BeverlyYouthFieldHockey@gmail.com.
