Practices will be determined by the coaches for the team. We always attempt to have 3 coaches per team, one will act as the Head Coach and will have playing/coaching experience in the sport. The 1/2 Team will meet once a week for practice. League play will take place starting the weekend after Labor Day in September and conclude the weekend before Veterans Day in November each year.
The 1/2 Team will be provided a Beverly Panthers reversible jersey as part of the registration fee. This jersey is the same as all the other divisions, which can be used in future years. Uniform matching shorts will be available via the Team Store; however, to keep costs as low as possible for those in this division any black shorts will be accepted for game days and will not be supplied as part of the uniform. Although the team will be playing games and traveling, as emphasized above, this division is focused on skill development and learning the game and not on winning. As such, BYFH is focused on keeping registration costs at a minimum to allow for more players to play and determine if FH is for them.
All players will need to supply their own equipment. We will have a few extras for when a child may forget theirs. Equipment includes Field Hockey Stick, mouth guard, shin guards and regulation approved Field Hockey Goggles (not Lacrosse Goggles they are different).
Games will be held each week through the months of September, October. and the beginning of November. Home games will be played in Beverly based on availability between the Middle and High School. At least half of the games will be away against other teams in the North Shore/Greater Boston area. Additionally there could be a tournament (or two) throughout the season. Games will generally be played on Sunday, but this is based on field availability within Beverly and the communities we travel to.
The cost of the 2024 season is $150 per player and there is a $25 sibling discount (flat discount fee across the registration) if there are multiple children registered.
